An AI SAT tutor that works on the questions you get wrong

TutorAura · Updated

Most SAT prep gives you more questions. What raises a score is understanding why you got a question wrong and fixing that skill. TutorAura's AI SAT tutor works on exactly that: it finds your weak skills with a diagnostic and full-length adaptive practice tests, builds a study plan around them, and walks you through each mistake one step at a time, asking you to do the next step rather than showing you the answer.

It's built for the Digital SAT: Reading and Writing and Math, with the same timing, question types and adaptive modules. You can try a free full-length practice test first, no account needed.

Key takeaways

  • Finds your weak skills with a diagnostic and full-length adaptive practice tests.
  • Explains every missed question step by step, and checks you've understood.
  • Builds a study plan from your results and updates it as you practise.
  • Covers both sections of the Digital SAT; original questions, not official ones.

How the AI SAT tutor works

  1. Find your starting point. A short diagnostic, or a full-length adaptive practice test with the real timing and an easier or harder Module 2.
  2. See where points are lost. Results by section, module, content domain, skill and difficulty, plus timing per question.
  3. Fix one skill at a time. The plan puts your weakest skills first. Each comes with a short lesson and practice that adapts to you.
  4. Learn from every mistake. Open any question you missed and the tutor works through it with you, one step at a time.
  5. Check your progress. Take another full-length test and compare skill by skill.

Example: a Math question you missed

A gym charges a one-time fee of $40 plus $25 per month. Which expression gives the total cost, in dollars, for mm months?

Say you chose 65m65m. Instead of just marking it wrong, the tutor asks:

Tutor: What would 2 months cost, in real life?

Student: 40 plus 25 plus 25, so 90.

Tutor: And what does 65m65m give for m=2m = 2?

Student: 130. Oh, it charges the 40 every month.

The correct answer is 40+25m40 + 25m: the fee is paid once, the monthly cost mm times. Testing a simple value like this is a habit that catches many "which expression" mistakes, and the tutor will remind you to use it next time.

Reading and Writing, explained the same way

For Reading and Writing, the tutor helps you find the evidence in the passage for the right answer, and explains why each wrong choice is tempting but unsupported. For grammar questions (Standard English Conventions), it names the rule, such as how a semicolon joins two complete sentences, and gives you a quick example to check you can apply it. Every Reading and Writing question on the Digital SAT has its own short passage, so it can explain the whole question in one place.

Practice that feels like the real test

The full-length tests follow the Digital SAT's structure: Reading and Writing (2 modules of 27 questions, 32 minutes each), a 10-minute break, then Math (2 modules of 22 questions, 35 minutes each). Module 2 of each section is easier or harder depending on how you did in Module 1. You get a calculator and reference sheet in Math, mark-for-review, an answer eliminator and a timer for each module.

All questions are written by TutorAura in the Digital SAT format. They aren't official College Board questions, so we report raw scores and don't estimate a scaled score: use the free official tests in Bluebook for that.

What it can't do

  • It can't give you an official SAT score or predict one exactly.
  • It doesn't contain real past SAT questions.
  • It can't replace the official practice tests. Use both: Bluebook for official-style scores, TutorAura for the skill breakdown and help with mistakes.

If you want a schedule, our SAT study plan shows 12-week, 4-week and 2-week versions.

Frequently asked questions

Can an AI tutor help me raise my SAT score?

It can help you practise the right things: it shows which skills cost you points, gives you targeted practice and explains every mistake step by step. Like any prep, results depend on how much and how well you practise.

Is the AI SAT tutor for the Digital SAT?

Yes. The practice tests, question types and skills follow the Digital SAT, including the adaptive Module 2 in each section and student-produced response questions in Math.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. You can take a free full-length practice test with no account, and the full tutor has a 3-day free trial with no card needed. After that it's $15 a month.

Does it use real SAT questions?

No. All questions are original, written in the Digital SAT format. For official questions, use the College Board's free practice tests in the Bluebook app alongside TutorAura.
